Zen Shiatsu

Shiatsu – A Japanese word made up of two written characters meaning finger (shi) and pressure (atsu).

Like acupuncture without needles, Zen Shiatsu uses points and meridians along the body in order to adjust its physical structure, enhance natural inner energies, keep illnesses at bay, and maintain good health.  It is an effective treatment for many physical, emotional, mental and spiritual imbalances.

The application of pressure to change the habitual patterns of energy flow and/or blockages through the body is the core principle of Zen Shiatsu.  By augmenting the receiver’s vital energy (Qi), Zen Shiatsu helps to correct physical, emotional or spiritual discomfort by addressing the underlying pattern.  Zen Shiatsu creates a deep feeling of well being, vitality, and relaxation.  It helps to balance one’s circulation while eliminating muscle stiffness, reducing tension, relieving fatigue and strengthening the immune system.

Zen Shiatsu is a gentle and powerful treatment for many conditions including allergies, asthma, digestive problems, headaches, neck/back problems, stress, high blood pressure, depression, fatigue, insomnia, PMS, and weight loss.

Zen Shiatsu treatments are performed on a futon or Japanese mat.  You are asked to wear loose, comfortable clothing, preferably made of cotton.  For the treatment, you remain fully clothed and no oils are used.
