The 9th House: integrating the wisdom of healing modalities from ages past with the techniques and technologies of modern times. The 9th House was created from a vision, inspired by the readings of American mystic Edgar Cayce and his descriptions of ancient Egyptian temples of healing. According to him, by using a number of healing modalities, including astrology, sound and light therapies, and physical adjustments, the vibration of a person was raised to the point that illness could no longer have a home in their body. All healing came from connecting with a higher life force. Astrologer Elizabeth Hermon had long believed that such a place could be re-created in these times. She created The 9th House to be a modern temple of healing, incorporating the wisdom of the ancients with the best of today’s scientific understanding. The 9th House follows the philosophies of the two main contributors to holistic medicine: Hippocrates, who insisted that physicians know and understand their patients’ horoscopes in order to understand their illnesses, and Edgar Cayce, whose work has been instrumental in helping us understand the relationship of our bodies to our minds and souls. What is The 9th House? In astrology, the ninth house is called “the house of the higher mind.” It is the part of a horoscope that speaks to us about our spirituality, that we are first and foremost spirit. From that expansive perspective, we are all united. We are unique, but not separate from each other, just as we are not separate from all forms of life on Earth. Spirit experiences life through us - our interactions with each other, our emotions, our thoughts, our bodies. If we view ourselves as spiritual beings, we must go beyond ego and open our hearts and minds. We must learn to listen to Life. Our view of our selves and our possibilities expands. From that perspective, a different type of healing is possible, and a different approach to and understanding of healing is required. Ninth house medicine contains optimism and hope. It is a medicine that recognizes how dynamic our lives and our bodies really are. It is a medicine that encourages us to see Life as a creative adventure, a human experience our Spirit is having. It embraces all possibilities and utilizes the Natural Laws of Earth. It asks us to recognize the wonder that we are. |
